13 intern doctors of Mymensingh Medical College have been banned from the hostel for life and expelled from internship for various periods for taking a direct stand against the anti-discrimination student movement.
This decision was taken in the disciplinary committee meeting of the college today on Saturday. Later, the director of the hospital Brigadier General. An office order signed by Golam Ferdous was issued.
Intern 13 students have been accused of taking a direct stand against the anti-discrimination student movement, threatening students and doctors who were agitating to thwart the movement, showing intimidation, actively participating in the anti-politics of the previous dictatorial government. It is said in the order that they are involved in physical and mental torture of ordinary students-doctors, extortion in the campus and surrounding areas, drug trade in hostels, drug consumption etc.
While all 13 intern doctors were banned from the hostel for life, 11 were expelled from the internship for various periods. In this symbol of faith, Abu Saleh Md. Latiful Kabir, Suniti Kumar Das, Faydur Rahman expelled from internship for two years, Shamim Raza suspended internship certificate for one year; Naimur Rashid, Mehdi Hasan, Abu Taher Billah, Kamrul Hasan, Abu Raihan have been expelled from internship for 1 year, Sakhawat Hussain for 6 months. And Arnab Kundu and Kashfi Tabriz have been banned from the hostel only. All of them were associated with BCL politics in medical school.
Earlier on September 11, the internship of the 13 students was temporarily suspended by the disciplinary committee of the hospital. In the face of general students’ movement, they were given the opportunity to defend themselves in writing and in person within five working days against the decision of the disciplinary committee.
Assistant Director of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Zakyul Islam said that earlier the internship of 13 people was temporarily suspended. After being given an opportunity to defend themselves, the accused made a plea. The Disciplinary Committee reviewed it and expelled them for different periods.
