The court granted two days’ remand for the questioning of Salim Altaf George, the former Member of Parliament of Kushtia-4 Constituency. Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Arafatul Rakib gave this order on Saturday.
According to court sources, Mohammadpur of the capital. Salim Altaf was remanded in the case of murder of a young man named Roni. Earlier, he was produced in the court today after being remanded for three days in this case. He was requested to be remanded for another five days in the same case. Bail application was rejected by the accused for remand. After hearing both sides, the court allowed Salim Altaf George to be remanded for two days for questioning.
The Intelligence Department (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) informed about the arrest of Salim Altaf from Lalmatia area of the capital on September 17.
According to the case documents, Salim Altaf has been arrested for murdering a youth named Roni (19) in Mohammadpur. 34 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been accused in this case. The deceased Roni’s mother filed the case on September 9 as the plaintiff.
It is said in the case that members of Awami League and its affiliates fired shots at the protest of anti-discrimination student movement on Noorjahan Road in Mohammadpur on the night of July 19. Then Roni was shot. Later he died while undergoing treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
