Former student of Jahangirnagar University and Chhatra League leader Shamim Mollah’s murder case and the name of one student has been withdrawn from the country of expulsion and another new student has been included. At the same time, the administration has changed the order of the earlier accused in the case.
It is said that the university administration changed the case filed in Ashulia police station on Saturday. Proctor of the university Professor AKM Rashidul Alam confirmed the matter in the first light.
The name of the student withdrawn from the case and expulsion is Zubair Ahmed. He is a 44th batch student of history department. Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, a student of the 52nd batch of pharmacy department, has been suspended and included in the list of accused in the case for his involvement in the murder.
On the other hand, Ahsan Labib, the university coordinator (expelled) of the anti-discrimination student movement, was made accused number 1 in the case filed at Ashulia police station. It has been changed and he has been made accused number 8.
Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam said that initially eight people were temporarily expelled and a case was filed in their name in connection with Shamim Molla’s unexpected death. But by mistake the name of Zubair Ahmed came there. Apart from correcting it, Saiful Islam, a student of pharmacy department, has been punished in his place.
Regarding the change in the order of the accused, Professor Rashidul Alam said, “Initially, the list of those who are expelled is published sequentially according to the level of their crime. It is asked to file a case according to the list of the expelled country. However, due to a typing mistake by the person who filed the case, Ahsan Labib’s name, which was at number 8, came to number 1. It was decided to correct that too.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station, Abubakar Siddique, was contacted on his mobile phone to inquire about this, but he did not respond.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Sohel Ahmed told Prothom Alo that according to the preliminary investigation report given by the Proctoral Body, the administration ordered the Chief Security Officer of the University to file a case; But when the copy of the case reached them, they noticed the difference. Whether there was any negligence or inefficiency, willful or not, is being investigated. In this regard, the authorities will take appropriate action as per the rules.
