Mountaineer Shayla Bithi was attacked in the capital. He was attacked in front of Mother Care Hospital in Dhanmondi at around two o’clock on Saturday. He has filed a written complaint in the Sherebangla Nagar police station.
Mother Care Hospital area is under Sherbangla Nagar Police Station. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherebangla Nagar Police Station Mozammel Haque told Prothom Alo that mountaineer Shayla Bithi has filed a written complaint that she was attacked. After that, policemen were sent to the spot to identify the person involved in the incident.
In the complaint, Shayla Bithi said that she was coming down from the footbridge in front of Mother Care Hospital. At that time, a person suddenly grabbed his hair from behind and pulled him down. Then he beat him. When he started shouting, people came forward and the man fled the area.
OC Mozammel Haque said that after analyzing the CCTV footage of the incident, legal action will be taken against the person involved.
Shayla Bithi completed basic mountaineering training course from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, India in 2016. She became the first Bangladeshi woman to conquer the Lakpari mountain peak in Tibet at a height of 7,45 meters in May 2018. In May 2019, she became the first Bangladeshi woman to cross the 5,755-meter-long Tashilapcha pass of the Himalayas.
In October 2021, he conquered the 6,189-meter high island peak of the Himalayas. And in November, Shayla Bithi became the first Bangladeshi woman to cross the three-pass of the Himalayas. Apart from this, he completed the Manaslu circuit (5 thousand 106 meters) in October 2017 as part of the first Bangladeshi team.
Apart from this, in November 2022, Shayla Bithi stepped on the Dolma Khang mountain peak, which is about 6 thousand 332 meters high in the Himalayas. She became the first Bangladeshi woman to climb this remote mountain peak.
