Two sides of BNP clashed on Friday over the dominance of Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur. At that time, a young man who was injured died in a private hospital in Dhaka on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment. Another 30 people were injured in the clash.
In this incident, the situation is still prevailing in Hajiganj Bazar area. Police and army personnel are stationed there. The officer-in-charge (OC) of Hajiganj police station Mohammad Mohiuddin confirmed the death.
Meanwhile, all the units of Hajiganj BNP, Paur BNP, Hajiganj Youth Dal and Chhatra Dal were declared dissolved from the center on Friday night due to the incident of the clash, said Sheikh Farid Ahmed, President of Chandpur District BNP.
The name of the deceased is Simon (20). Saymon Hajiganj Municipality Bilbaria Md. Son of Yunus. However, it is not yet confirmed which party he belongs to.
Talking to party leaders and eyewitnesses, it is known that a conflict arose between upazila BNP president Imam Hossain and municipal youth party convener Salim Mizi over occupation and extortion of Hajiganj bazaar, bus and CNG stand. Due to this, there was tension and clash between two parties in Hajiganj market at one o’clock on Thursday night. Clashes started again after Friday evening yesterday. Both sides clashed with indigenous weapons till 10:30 pm. At this time, the people of the entire market were blocked. Chandpur-Comilla road was also closed for several hours.
Doctor of Hajiganj Health Complex. Mazharul Islam said that 20 injured patients came to this hospital till 10:30 on Friday night. Among them, Shahadat (22), Simon and Ahsan (40) were sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Later Simon was taken to Dhaka from there. They learned that he died at a hospital in Dhaka at 7:30 pm on Saturday.
However, upazila BNP president Imam Hossain said that the allegations of extortion or usurpation against him are false. But the incident that happened on Friday was centered around a trivial incident. It was not possible to speak with Salim Mizi, convener of the municipal youth party.
Mohammad Mohiuddin, OC of Hajiganj police station, said that they went to the market at night with the help of the army and calmed down the situation. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mohsin Uddin and Superintendent of Police Muhammad Rakib Uddin also visited the spot. On Saturday afternoon, Parvez’s wife Tuhin Begum, who was injured in the clash, filed a case at Hajiganj police station accusing 300 to 400 people as the plaintiff. They have arrested two people in this incident.
All the committees were dissolved in one night
All the committees of Hajiganj Upazila BNP and allied organizations have been declared dissolved due to clear allegations of anti-discipline activities. Chandpur district BNP president Sheikh Farid Ahmed confirmed this information through three separate letters on Friday night.
The letter signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, said that the committee of Hajiganj Upazila BNP and Municipal BNP has been dissolved. Two new committees will be announced later.
On the same night, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Central Committee announced the dissolution of Hajiganj Upazila Jubo Dal, Paur Jubo Dal and all committees under their units and wards under Chandpur district. In a letter signed by Nurul Islam, secretary of the Jubodal Central Committee, the matter of the dissolution of the committee has been confirmed.
The letter mentions that the committees were abolished on the basis of clear allegations of involvement in activities against the organization’s discipline.
In another letter, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central committee office secretary (vice-president rank) announced the abolition of all the committees of Hajiganj upazila, town, college, union and ward Chhatra Dal. Jahangir Alam. In his letter, it is said that the committee of Hajiganj Upazila, Municipal, College, Union and Ward Chhatra Dal has expired.
President of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir approved this decision.
